The National University Corporation Shizuoka University (termed as Shizuoka University) upholds the philosophy of "freedom and enlightenment" as a mainstay of education, research and collaboration with society, industry and overseas. For advanced and leading research, it is essential to improve the independent research environment for young researchers and promote their ability.
Shizuoka University was selected as "Young Global Leader Program" by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) in 2008 and employed 10 young researchers. From 2011 to 2014, Shizuoka University employed 7 researchers using "Program to Disseminate the Tenure Tracking System" organized by Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST). Since 2015, Shizuoka University has started a new program to train young researchers who will lead the next generation using the university's own resources and accepted more than 10 researchers. In 2019, Shizuoka University has employed a researcher using the system "Leading Initiative for Excellent Young Researchers" organized by Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS).
They will enhance Shizuoka University's research level and contribute the formation of an International Center of Excellence in the frontiers.
